The Westminster City Council will meet Wednesday night to discuss Arnold Schwarzenegger, first-time homebuyers, and Chinese New Year’s Eve.
The council will vote on a Resolution requesting that Schwarzenegger cancel the proposed sale of the Orange County Fairgrounds. The Governor has proposed selling the fairgrounds, as well as other state-owned property, as a way of closing the state budget gap. The Orange County Board of Supervisors passed a similar proposal on Nov. 24.
Other items up for vote include a proposal for a first-time homebuyer program. According to staff reports, the program would allow for loans up to $75,000 to qualified homebuyers toward the purchase of lower-cost housing.
The council will also consider Chua Dieu Ngu’s application for a Special Event Permit to hold a New Year’s Eve celebration on Feb. 13 at the Buddhist Temple on 14472 Chestnut Street. One thousand people are expected to attend the event. According to the Chinese calendar, New Year’s Day is Feb. 14.
