Garden Grove High athletes took two of the top honors in the Southern Division for the CIF Southern Section all-star teams announced this week.
Sean Young, who led the Argonauts from the quarterback position to the CIF finals and a 13-1 record, was named co-offensive player of the year, along with La Mirada’s J.T. Torres, a running back.
Argo linebacker Zach Huff was named defensive player of the year.
Also named to the Southern Division offensive team were running back Jose Ortiz of Westminster, wide receiver’s Juan Cruz of Rancho Alamitos and Tarik Rayford of Westminster and offensive lineman Anthony Caballero of Santiago.
On the Southern Division defensive team, Santiago’s Missael Lagunas, a defensive back was named, as well as two defensive linemen from Garden Grvove: Stephan Meredith and Jospeh Raufetee.
In the Southwest Division, the lone local entry was defensive back Wesley Harris of Pacifica.
