Pedestrian in critical condition after he’s hit by car

A 34-year-old Garden Grove man is hospitalized in critical condition after he was struck Friday night by a car, according to police.

Tung Hoang was injured when he was hit while on foot, apparently trying to cross Ward Street, north of Bolsa Avenue at around 7:25 p.m., said Lt. Travis Whitman. He was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange.

The driver involved was identified as Nguyen Vu, 21, of Garden Grove. He was driving north on Ward when his car struck Hoang.

Drugs or alcohol don’t appear to be a factor in the collision but have not been ruled out, according to police. No citations have been issued and the cause of the collision is under investigation.

Any witnesses to the incident are asked to call Investigator Jason Perkins at (714) 741-5823.
