Truck smashes into yard, injures GG woman

The driver of a commercial truck tractor whose vehicle smashed through trees and fences and injured a woman was arrested Friday morning in Garden Grove, according to police.

William Davis, 44, of Orange was arrested for felony drunk driving after the incident, which took place at 11 a.m. at 11052 Woodbury Rd.

The truck tractor left the street and onto the property of a residence, striking several trees, a fence, concrete planters and a block wall before coming to a stop, according to Lt. Travis Whitman.

The victim, identified as Olga Quiroz, 36, of Garden Grove was standing in her yard when was struck by the tractor. She was dragged through the yard until the truck stopped. Quiroz was treated at the scene by paramedics, then taken to a hospital with leg injuries, including cuts and fractures.

Residents held the driver until police arrived. After evaluation by officers, he was arrested for felony DUI.

A surveillance camera from a nearby home provided some footage of the crash.

Police believe that Davis may also have been involved in a non-injury collision 45 minutes earlier in the vicinity of Euclid Street and Trask Avenue.

The truck had to be removed by several heavy-duty tow trucks. Woodbury Lane was close for about three hours during the investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked for call Investigator Jason Person at (714) 741-5823.
