Shootings in Westminster leave woman dead, man in grave condition

A man has been detained in Nevada as a “subject of interest” in the wake of a murder of a woman in Westminster Sunday afternoon, and the serious wounding of a man, according to police.

The Westminster Police Department reported that the man in question was arrested by the Las Vegas Metro Police Department. LV officers had been alerted to the man authorities in State Line, Nevada where he was considered to be acting suspiciously in a casino.

Police say the man tried to evade casino security by driving away, but he crashed his vehicle and was found to be suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.

The suspect’s vehicle was registered to an address in the 5000 block of Duncannon Avenue in Westminster. WPD officers responding to that home found two gunshot victims. A woman was found dead of gunshot wounds, and a man was also shot. He was taken to an area hospital where he was listed in grave condition.

Police say the home had been ransacked and no other victims were found.

Westminster detectives are coordinating with Las Vegas police to determine their detainee’s involvement. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the WPD’s detective bureau at (714) 898-3315.
