HUNTINGTON BEACH (AP) ― A crash on Pacific Coast Highway sent two cars into a marsh in Huntington Beach Tuesday night, authorities said.
Witnesses said 52-year-old Melvin Brown was weaving in and out of traffic at speeds of 150 mph in a Corvette when the crash was reported at around 10:15 p.m. Huntington Beach police Lt. John Domingo said.
According to authorities, the Garden Grove man’s car rear-ended an Infiniti G35 sedan that sent both cars into wetland adjacent to Bolsa Chica State Beach.
Huntington Beach resident Andrew Baggett jumped into the water and rescued Brown.
Brown was later arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor driving under the influence, Domingo said.
Both Brown and the driver of the Infiniti were transported to local hospitals with non life-threatening injuries, Domingo said.
