Garden Grove High swept to both track and field titles in the Garden Grove League Wednesday, narrowly defeating rival Rancho Alamitos.
In the boys competition, the Argonauts finished first with 130 points, followed by Rancho Alamitos (126), La Quinta (69), Bolsa Grande (48), Los Amigos (45) and Santiago (27).
On the girls side, Grove had 126.5 points, compared to Rancho (118.50). Following were La Quinta (73), Santiago (68), Bolsa Grande (65) and Los Amigos (14).
Top performers among the boys was Mikhail Lowery, who won three events for Bolsa Grande (long jump, triple jump and 100-meter dash). Two Argonauts won two golds each, Joe Taufetee (shot put and discuss throw) and Avery Williams (200-meter run and 400-meter run).
Among the girls, Denshay Wallace of Rancho took two golds, winning in the long jump and triple jump, and La Quinta’s Lauren Brose was first in the 1600-meter and 3200-meter runs.
Also taking two golds was Kelsey Nugent (Rancho Alamitos) in the 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles.
The league finals were held at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa.
