Garden Grove Unified School District high schools have selected their best and brightest of the 2010 senior class to be honored as valedictorians and salutatorians for upcoming graduation exercises.
The top seniors named as valedictorians, with their college choices are: Bolsa Grande High School: Dennis Tran (UC San Diego); Garden Grove High School: Dung Vumy Nguyen (UCLA); Hare Continuation High School: Kaela Costley (Orange Coast College); La Quinta High School: Kim Dang (UCI); Los Amigos High School: Truman K. Nguyen (UCI) and Jose Gabrielle Matias (UCLA); Pacifica High School: Brianna Manes (Pepperdine); Rancho Alamitos High School : Phuong Chi Nguyen (UCI); and Santiago High School: Blair Thanh Lieu (USC) and Denise Thuy Pham (UC San Diego).
This year’s salutatorians are: Bolsa Grande High School: Hannah K. Nguyen (UCI); Garden Grove High School: Adan Juarez (University of Pennsylvania) and Ylan Ha (UC Berkeley); Hare Continuation High School: Neftali Flores; La Quinta High School: Terry Nguyen (UCLA); Los Amigos High School: Angela Huynh (UCLA) and Thanh Gia Tu (UCLA);Pacifica High School: Paola Cota (Loyola Marymount); Rancho Alamitos High School: Shelly Quan (UC Berkeley); and Santiago High School” Benjamin P. Nguyen (UCLA).
Graduation programs are scheduled on June 17 and June 22-23 for more than 3,300 students of high schools and adult education schools in the district. Commencement ceremonies for district intermediate schools are planned for June 23.
