DUI checkpoint in GG nets 5 arrests; another set this weekend

Five drunk driving arrests were made at the DUI and driver’s license checkpoints conducted by the Garden Grove Police Department on July 9 at 12301 Magnolia St.

According to police reports, the results of the event also included:

• 592 vehicles screened;

• 31 citations issued;

• 21 vehicles impounded for 30 days;

• 30 unlicensed and suspended drivers sent to court;

• 11 vehicles impounded;

• one suspect arrested on another criminal charge.

Another checkpoint is scheduled for this Saturday and Sunday from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. at 13742 Harbor Blvd.

These checkpoints are funded by a grant from the California Office of Highway Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
