A Westminster man was arrested as the suspect in a burglary where a nude man was found hiding under a 10-year-old boy’s bed, Officer Van Woodson of the Westminster Police Department said.

Edgar Antonio Lucha, 23, was arrested at a drug rehabilitation center in Compton Wednesday night, ending a countrywide search by Westminster detectives and members of the US Marshals Service. The search began after Lucha’s fingerprints were found at the crime scene, according to a press release by the police.

The suspect broke into the home in the 6000-block of Shawnee Road using a ladder to gain access to an unlocked window on the second story, Saturday night. The boy’s dad had swapped beds with his son for the night and was awakened by movements from beneath his bed. He quickly discovered an adult male was hiding naked beneath him, the police department said.

Once discovered, the suspect apologized to the victim claiming that he was under the influence of drugs and fled the scene before the victim was able to call police.

Officers searched the neighborhood, but were unable to locate the suspect. Evidence lead detectives to the rehabilitation center where Lucha was arrested and then booked into the Orange County Jail in Santa Ana on the charges of burglary, indecent exposure, attempt lewd acts on a child and parole-violation, the police department said.

Anyone with information regarding this matter should contact the Westminster Police Department at (714) 548-3207.
