Robbers hold up Walmart in Westminster

Police are searching for suspects in the armed robbery of the Walmart store in Westminster this morning.

According to Officer Van Woodson of the Westminster Police Department, the incident took place at the store at 13331 Beach Blvd. at about 9:45 a.m.

A suspect, identified as a male Asian or Hispanic, 5-foot, 10-inches tall and 165 lbs., approached a cashier from behind and produced a handgun.

The suspect then reportedly took money from the cash register drawer, put it into a bag and ran from the store, leaving in a waiting vehicle driven by another person. The car then sped southbound toward Trask Avenue.

There were no injuries and the amount of cash taken is unknown. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the WPD’s Detective Bureau at (714) 548-3207. Tips to police can be made anonymously, said Officer Woodson.
