Josh Webb’s spectacular acrobatic leap into the end zone for a two-point conversion lifted the Garden Grove Argonaut football team to a 31-30 win over Beckman High Friday night in the CIF Southern Division championship game at Orange Coast College.
It was the first CIF football title for GGHS in the school’s 89 years. This was Grove’s second consecutive trip to the CIF finals, losing last year to La Mirada.
The Argonauts, who finished with a 13-1 record, had to come from behind twice and overcome two turnovers — and interception and a fumble – that led to Patriot touchdowns.
Webb’s feat came with 1:46 to play in the game.
