Twelve area high school basketball teams and seven local girls’ water polo squads have landed spots in the CIF Southern Section playoff berths announced Sunday.
Here are the matchups, by sport. The boys’ basketball playoffs will start Tuesday; the girls in Thursday. Girls’ water polo matchups are on Tuesday and Thursday.
Girls’ basketball: (2A) Temecula Valley at Westminster; (3AA) Santiago at West Torrance, Gahr at Los Amigos; (3A) Northwood at Rancho Alamitos; (6AA) Orangewood has a bye.
Boys basketball: (2A) Vista del Lago at Garden Grove; Western at Elsinore; (3AA) Magnolia at Kennedy; (3A) Bolsa Grande at Woodbridge, Pacifica at Palm Desert. Torrance at Rancho Alamitos; (6AA) Orangewood Academy at Liberty Christian.
Girls water polo: (Division 6) Western at Santa Monica, Pacifica on Thursday will play the winner of the Palm Desert-Beaumont match played on Tuesday. (Division 7) Garden Grove has a bye until Saturday, when the Argos play the winner of the Don Lugo-Summit contest. On Thursay it will be be Orange vs. Katella, Cajon at Westminster, Ontario at Los Amigos and Rancho Alamitos at Santa Ana Valley.
