Public’s help asked in traffic fatal inquiry

Police are seeking the public’s help in connection with an investigation into a traffic accident in Garden Grove in which a man died on Sunday.

The incident, according to Lt. Jeff Nightengale of the Garden Grove Police Department, took place on Feb. 17 at Hazel Street and Garden Grove Boulevard, but the victim died of his injuries more than a week later.

The victim – still identified only as an “elderly male” pedestrian, was walking east on Garden Grove Boulevard at Hazel at 9:21 a.m. when a car traveling south on Hazel struck him.

The pedestrian was hospitalized. The driver remained on the scebne and cooperated with investigators.
