Coming to Garden Grove’s Festival Amphitheatre today (Thursday) Shakespeare Orange County will present “The Comedy of Errors,” a madcap farce centering on the mistaken identities of two sets of twins.
But it’s more than just a tale of mistaken identity–it’s a wild roller coaster ride through the city of Ephesus, the Beverly Hills of the ancient world, where the local brothel is conveniently located just across the street from the library, and life is truly–nuts.
“The Comedy of Errors” is a V.I.P. pass to a world of farce—Dad gets arrested in his search for a missing son, long-separated identical twin brothers suffer the travesties of mistaken identity, a missing Mom shows up as the Abbess of a convent, and the entire family is happily reunited in the end. “The Comedy of Errors” was one of Shakespeare’s first plays, and his shortest in length.
According to SOC Producing Artistic Director Thomas F. Bradac, “We’re taking Shakespeare’s work and adapting it as it was meant to be—simply farce…with the addition of a Mardi Gras theme. Audiences should enjoy the entire experience.”
Directed by Alyssa Bradac, the production features Sean Anthony, Gil Gonzales, Evelyn Carol Case, Josh Snyder, and a host of zany and infectious characters whose antics will delight. The Comedy of Errors plays Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 8:15 p.m. and runs through August 20.
Tickets for Shakespeare Orange County performances are $34 (reserved seating) with $32 pricing for students/seniors.
