Pre-season CIF rankings: Argos 2nd in Southern Division

Two local high school football teams are ranked and two more mentioned in the preseason CIF Southern Section rankings.

In the Southern Division, defending champion Garden Grove is second, just behind Beckman, the team it defeated 31-30 last year in the championship game. Rated in 10th place is Santiago. Also receiving votes but not ranked were Rancho Alamitos and Westminster.

In the Southwest Division, Pacifica is unranked but received some votes in the poll.

La Quinta’s girls volleyball team is ranked 10th in CIF Division 3-A. In boys water polo, in Division Six, Western is rated 10th, and in Division Seven, Los Amigos is ranked eighth. Orange is unranked but received some votes.
