Yorba Linda 35, Pacifica 10
The Mariners 10-7 in the second quarter but it would be all Mustangs the rest of the way as Pacifica (1-3) lost its Empire League opener Friday at Bolsa Grande Stadium. Kyle Edwards passed for 243 yards and one score for the Mariners, but was intercepted three times. Yorba Linda is 5-0.
Corona del Mar 48, Magnolia 6
A fourth quarter 40-yard scoring pass from Waseem Akbar to Jerrad Wade put the Sentinels on the scoreboard, but that was the main highlight for Magnolia Friday at Newport Harbor in a non-league contest. The loss dropped MHS to 0-4.
Huntington Beach 49, Westminster 7
A fourth quarter scored kept the Lions (1-3) from being blanked in the non-league game at the Lion stadium. Dominic Pendergrass passed for 117 yards to lead Westminster’s offense.
Sonora 33, Rancho Alamitos 30
The Vaqueros left the ranks of the unbeaten after the non-league loss Friday night at La Habra High. A furious second quarter rally erased a 23-point deficit and had Rancho (3-1) ahead by three until the Raiders scored with 55 seconds to play.
