Spartans fall in state playoff game

The girls’ basketball team from Orangewood Academy of Garden Grove was knocked out of the state playoffs Saturday when they suffered a 44-34 loss to Providence Hall at the Spartan gym.

Orangewood led by three points going into the final period, but was shut out 13-0 in the final eight minutes of the Division 5 game. It was a turnabout for Providence, which lost to the Spartans 34-31 in the CIF championship game two weeks ago.

Raquel Spencer led the Spartans with 10 points, followed by Brittany Bolen –Guibert with 7. Orangewood finished the season with a 26-5 mark.
