Oversight appointments go to GGUSD board

Garden Grove Journal

New appointments to the committee to oversee the spending of bond money for school modernization tops the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting of the Garden Grove Unified School District Board of Education.

The board will meet at 7 p.m. at the Education Center, 10331 Stanford Ave., Garden Grove on the fifth floor.

The Citizens Bond Oversight Committee has the responsibility to help see that the funds from Measure A, a $250 million bond issue approved by GGUSD voters in 2010, are properly spent.

The bond money goes to repairing and modernizing the campuses of the GGUSD, which includes most of Garden Grove and parts of Cypress, Fountain Valley, Santa Ana, Stanton and Westminster. The revenue can’t be used for salaries or regular operating expenses.

Also on the agenda for Tuesday is the acceptance of gifts, an expulsion recommendation and authorization to use bids from other districts for playground equipment and relocatable classrooms.
