The signs are, that is, the sign is that Tuesday’s meeting of the Garden Grove City Council will feature a conflict between a car dealership and some members of a nearby neighborhood.

Garden Grove Hyundai, 9898-10150 Trask Ave., is proposing to build a 59-foot high electronic sign that would be aimed at traffic on the nearby Garden Grove Freeway. There are also two similar large electronic displays along the “22.” There are two other non-electric displays.

But some people living in homes adjacent to the proposed display are unhappy and are hoping the city council will turn down this request for a modification of the planned unit development agreement already in place.

Opponents of the plan argue that the Hyundai sign will create more traffic and more automobile accidents at the Brookhurst Street and Trask Avenue intersection, endanger the safety of children walking home from area schools and be an intrusive light source.

The council meets at the Community Meeting Center, 11300 Stanford Ave., with the open session beginning at 6:30 p.m.
