Pacifica, a nationally-ranked softball team, finally made it to the top of the CIF Southern Section poll this week.
The Mariners (20-1)
are atop the Division 1 rankings on the strength of winning the championship of the prestigious Michelle Carew Classic. Norco, the former number one, dropped to second.
In Division 4, Garden Grove (10-3)) has risen to the fourth spot. Aquinas High is the top-rated.
The baseball polls have Pacifica (16-5) in fourth place in Division 2, with Redlands top-ranked. Rancho Alamitos (13-4) and Garden Grove (12-4) are third and ninth in Division 3. The number one team there is Bonita.
In boys’ volleyball, Western is rated 10th in Division 3, while Garden Grove is 10th in Division 4. In boys’ tennis, in Division 4 Garden Grove is seventh and La Quinta ninth, while in Division 5, Magnolia is fifth.
