Unemployment rates dropped sharply in the Garden Grove-Stanton-Westminster area in April, according to a preliminary report issued by the state Department of Employment Development.
Jobless rates declined all across Orange County. The countywide rate fell from 8.1 percent in March to 7.4 percent in April.

Garden Grove’s rate went from 10.2 percent to 9.3 percent. In Stanton the figure declined from 13.1 percent to 12 percent. Westminster’s rate fell from 9.1 percent to 8.3 percent.
These are preliminary figures and are not seasonally adjusted. They are not actual counts, like a census, but instead estimates based on each city’s historical employment patterns.
