GARDEN GROVE (AP) – Southern California’s landmark Crystal Cathedral will get a new name this weekend.
The Catholic Diocese of Orange plans to announce a new name Saturday during the ordination of four priests at St. Columban’s Church in Garden Grove.
A spokesman won’t provide the name but reportedly it will pertain to the life, teachings and deeds of Jesus.
The diocese bought the famous Garden Grove sanctuary and grounds for $57.5 million in bankruptcy proceedings last year. The soaring, glass-paned megachurch was founded by Robert Schuller. It was sold by to help pay off more than $40 million in debt.
