A 21-year-old man was killed Wednesday and electrical power was
knocked out to an area of West Garden Grove when a car struck a power pole.
According to Investigator Jason Perkins of the Garden Grove Police Department, the incident took place just before midnight. A white Ford Contour was traveling east on Lampson Avenue from Manley Street when it struck a raised center median, a wooden power pole and a block wall.
Paramedics pronounced the driver dead at the scene. Police are still investigating the incident, but “speed appears to be a significant factor.” Toxicology tests conducted during an autopsy by the Orange County Coroner’s office will determine if drugs or alcohol were involved.
The name of deceased man was withheld pending notification of his family.
Power was lost to several homes in the area as a result of the crash. Crews from Southern California Edison were sent to the scene to make repairs, and the stretch of Lampson between Manley and Blackmer was closed.
Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact Investigator Perkins at (714) 741-5823.

Was that the same median that killed a woman about a year ago, if so when will garden grove remove the death trap, it was a new sign saying welcome to Garden Grove . It was placed on a curve and not visable when coming East bound on Lampson. Half of it is still there after the last death took place if in fact it is the same place.
