Paperwork glitch: no water park action

By Fernando Alcantara/Garden Grove Journal

The Garden Grove City Council did not get a chance to act on a decision that would have helped the proposed water park and hotel move closer to becoming a reality for the city.

The paperwork required to declare The Great Wolf resort, a proposed 600-room hotel and indoor water park, had not yet been delivered to city council staff members, preventing action from being taken taken.

City council will have the opportunity to declare the project an “enforceable obligation” that will allow $47 million in funds to help subsidize the project next Tuesday, July 31.

Adoption of a second reading of the planned unit development to allow live entertainment via a two-piece band and karaoke passed Tuesday night.

The amendment only allows restaurants that “have a ground floor storefront that faces Valley View Street.”

The next regularly scheduled Garden Grove City Council meeting on Aug. 14 has been canceled. The City Council will reconvene on Tuesday, Aug. 28.
