TUESDAY NIGHT FEVER
The 23th annual National Night Out will be observed by the Garden Grove Police Department on Tuesday, Aug. 2 from 5 to 8:30 p.m.
Across Garden Grove, 11 neighborhoods will host get-togethers to promote community involvement in crime prevention, positive communications with law enforcement and neighborhood pride.

HULA AT H. LOUIS
Seniors are invited to join the fun at the Hawaiian Luau Dinner Dance at the H. Louis Lake Senior Center, 11300 Stanford Ave., on Friday, Aug. 17 from 6-10 p.m.
Wear your favorite Hawaiian shirt and enjoy dinner, island-style entertainment and dancing to The Big Swing Players band. Tickets are $10 each and are only available on a pre-sale basis.

DRIVE SOBER
A special saturation patrol of police officers will be out on the streets of Garden Grove this Saturday in a crackdown on drunk driving.
“If you drive drunk, Garden Grove PD will be looking for you,” said Sgt. Carl Whitney. “If you’re over the limit and we catch you, you will be arrested.”
This zero tolerance patrol is funded through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

BORN TO ROLL
Garden Grove Elks Lodge No. 1952 will hold its ninth annual Car & Bike Show on Aug. 4, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event is free and open to all. There will be live entertainment and other activities.
Cars and motorcycles in the categories of antiques, classics, stock, custom, supermodified and others will be on hand.
For car and bike owners, preregistration is $20. Registering at the gate will cost $25. The first 40 registrations will earn “Good Bags.”

The Nicholson Pipes and Drums will perform at the City of Westminster’s Concert in the Park today (Thursday) at 6 p.m. in the Sunken Gardens of the Civic Center, 8200 Westminster Blvd.
