A 71-year-old Fountain Valley resident has been arrested for sexually assaulting two 10-year-old girls, and later arraigned in the West Justice Center in Westminster.
Donald Roy Shipley was charged with the felonies of forcible lewd acts on a child under 14, lewd acts on a child under 14, aggravated sexual assault of a child and one misdemeanor count of possession of child pornography. He was arrested by the Fountain Valley Police Department on Wednesday, July 18.
Shipley allegedly raped one girl in 2008 when she visited a young female relative he lived with, and in 2009 committed lewd acts against the other, who lived in the same neighborhood as him. His maximum sentence could be from 40 years and eight months to life in prison, if he is found guilty.
The investigation began over the possession of child pornography. He is accused of possessing more than a dozen pornographic photographs of girls between the ages of 10 and 13 years old, many of them seemingly taken in his home, said investigators.
The investigation is continued and those with additional information on the case or anyone who may be a victim can contact FVPD Detective Jesse Hughes at (714) 593-4480 or Supervising District Attorney Investigator Lou Gutierrez at (714) 347-8794.
