The murder trial of a 20-year-old Anaheim man began Wednesday (July 25) at the West Justice Center in Westminster.
According to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, Johnathan Allen Kincaid is accused of stabbing and killing Tayroh Deshawn Stinson, 31, east of Magnolia Avenue on Trask Avenue in Garden Grove near a commercial and high-density residential area in the afternoon of July 29, 2009 during a drug exchange.
The victim had gone to this location to sell marijuana and was stabbed to death with a knife after a dispute with his attacker, according to the DA’s office. After collapsing on the sidewalk of Trask Avenue, Stinson was transported to a local hospital where he died. According to witnesses, Stinson’s attacker ran into a residential area around Mays and Magnolia Avenue. Although police conducted an intense search of the area, the suspect was not found. Police later reported finding about 2 ½ ounces of pot in Stinson’s white 2008 Dodge Charger.
The defendant is accused of fleeing the crime scene after stabbing Stinson to death. Kincaid was arrested in Las Vegas on Sept. 4, 2009 by the U.S. Marshals Service for an unrelated warrant. The defendant was extradited back to Orange County where Garden Grove police detectives arrested him for murder. Kincaid’s trial is still under way and no further information has been released by the D.A.’s office.
