Local lineup for Nov. 6 election is almost set

As many as 34 people will be on the ballot for city council and school board elections on Nov. 6 in the Garden Grove-Stanton-Westminster area as the filing period closed Friday afternoon.

The number could change as the Orange County Registrar of Voters seeks to verify the signatures on nomination papers.

Additionally, the Westminster School District filing period has been extended to Wednesday (Aug. 15) at 5 p.m. because one incumbent has not filed for another term.

Here are the candidates, as listed by the registar.

Garden Grove mayor: Bruce Broadwater, Myke Cossota, Sherry Runnels Williams and James Torres Ybarra.

Garden Grove city council (two seats): Zack  Barrett, Kris Beard (incumbent), Phat Bui, Steven Jones (incumbent), Josh McIntosh, Jennifer Nguyen, John O’Neill, Chris Phan and James Torres Ybarra.

Westminster mayor: Al Hamade, Penny Loomer, Ha Mach, Tamara Sue Pennington and Tri Ta.

Westminster city council (two seats): Diana Carey, Sergio Contrares, Tyler Diep (incumbent), Al Krippner and Charlie Nguyen Manh Chi.

Stanton city council (two seats): Al Ethans (incumbent), Sou Moua, Bryan Palomares and Carol  Warren (incumbent).

Garden Grove school board (three seats): Bao Quoc Nguyen (incumbent), Kevin Nguyen, Linda Reed-Paulsen (incumbent), George West (incumbent) and Linda Zamora.

Westminster school board (two seats): Jamison Power, Jo-Ann Purcells (incumbent), Joey Van Camp and Amy Walsh.
