A teenage girl suffered an apparent electric shock and nearly drowned in a Garden Grove swimming pool Monday is recovering from the ordeal.
According to Lt. Jeff Nightengale of the Garden Grove Police Department, the incident took place just before noon on Monday at a home in the 11400 block of Rainier Court.
The 15-year-old girl was pulled from the pool by her father and was not breathing. The father and a friend had already started cardiopulmonary resusication by the time police officers and then paramedics arrived, said Lt. Nightengale.
She had no pulse and officers took over CPR and then the task was taken over by firefighters and paramedics who were able to restore breathing and pulse using a defibrillator.
The girl was taken to UCI Medical Center in Irvine where she was stabilized and remained there under observation. She is expected to make a full recovery.
