A 28-year-old man died after the car he was driving struck a curb and then a tree and a cinder block wall in Garden Grove early Saturday morning.
According to police, the driver of a Lexus – identified as Raul Silvia Perez of Garden Grove – was driving east on Chapman Avenue past Brookhurst Street around 2 a.m. when the vehicle went out of control, hit the curb near Morrie Lane on the south side of Chapman Avenue, then the tree and wall.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger was hospitalized with minor injuries. Police say speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
