An 81-year-old woman was fatally injured while crossing a street in Garden Grove Monday morning, according to police.
The woman, identified as Thu Nguyen of Garden Grove, was walking across Lampson Avenue at Strathmore Drive at around 6:41 a.m. when she was struck by a vehicle traveling east.
The driver of the car stopped and stayed with the woman until paramedics and police officers arrived, according to Lt. Jeff Nightengale of the Garden Grove Police Department.
A statement was provided to police, who do not believe that alcohol was a factor in the accident. Investigations by the GGPD and the Orange County Coroner’s Office are continuing.
