Prep football: Panthers win, Cavs fall

Orange 41, Saddleback 7: The Panthers scored four times in the second quarter and went on to the win Thursday night at Fred Kelly Stadium in their season opener.

Orange (1-0) was led by Aaron Aguilar, who scored on runs of 6, 16 and 9 yards. He finished with 122 yards rushing. The Panthers had a strong air attack, too, as quarterback Lorenzo Rosario threw scoring strikes of 39 and 16 yards to Nick Kunkel.

The Panthers are back in action next Friday night (Sept. 7) against Santiago (0-1) at Garden Grove Stadium.

Costa Mesa 45, Santiago 14:  Against the Mustangs Thursday night Estancia High School, the Cavaliers scored in the first and fourth quarters, but not in between.
