16-year-old stabbed to death in GG

Police have arrested a 31-year-old Garden Grove man in the fatal stabbing of 16-year-old youth.

According to Lt. Jeff Nightengale of the Garden Grove Police Department, Jose Gil is being held on a homicide charge after a fight turned in a fatality late Friday night in the 11600 block of Barclay Street.

Police say that the victim and the suspect knew each other and that the stabbing stemmed from a prior dispute.  A group of teenagers were visiting another friend living close to the suspect’s home. When Gil drove rode by on his bike, he was followed by some of the teens in a car.

A fight followed and one of the youths was stabbed.  He was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead after several hours of treatment.

Gil was arrested and booked for murder. The investigation is continuing and anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call Investigator Reynolds at (714) 741-5800.
