A proposal to build a 24-unit apartment complex goes before the Garden Grove Planning Commission when it meets on Thursday.
Apartment construction has been rare in recent years in Garden Grove, with almost all high-density housing projects being built as condominiums instead of rental housing.

The proposed development would be a three-story complex on the east side of Dale Street, north of Stanford Avenue at 12662 Dale. The developer, Brandywine Homes, seeks a 35 percent “affordable housing density bonus” for low-to-moderate income families.
The proposal calls for approval of a development agreement and site plan that will allow for waivers of certain development standards, including allowing homes within 10 feet of a driving aisle, reducing the north setback from 10 feet to eight feet and allowing no setback for covered parking on the south property line.
Also on the agenda for Thursday is a proposal from The Olson Company to build 17 single family homes on a site on the north side of Trask Avenue, east of Newhope Street, at 11631 and 11631 Trask Ave.
The commission meets at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers in the Community Meeting Center, 11300 Stanford Ave.
