Suspects sought in two Westminster murders

Investigators are still searching for more suspects in a shooting in Westminster early Saturday morning that left four people wounded, two of them fatally.

The incident took place around 12:30 a.m. in the 13900 block of Iowa Street. Upon arrival, police and paramedics found four gunshot victims in a garage. One man was dead at the scene and a boy taken to a nearby trauma center died at 4:20 a.m., according to police.

“Preliminary reports suggest there was some kind of altercation in the street just prior to the shooting,” said Sgt. Cameron Knauerhaze, speaking for the Westminster Police Department.  Gunshots rang out and the suspects fled the area on foot, possibly to a waiting vehicle.

“So far this appears to be an isolated incident and the victims appear to have been the only ones targeted,” said Sgt. Knauerhaze.

The names of the victims were not available as of our deadline Wednesday morning. One suspect has been arrested and other are being sought. The identity of possible suspects is also not being released.

Anyone with information about the incident is being asked to call the WPD’s detective bureau at (714) 898-3315. Callers can remain anonymous.

Anonymous tips can also be given to Orange County Crime Stoppers by calling 1-855-TIP-OCCS or by going to www.crimestoppers.org.
