It’s time to howl for Halloween

Wanting to scare up a little Halloween fun? There are some ghoulish opportunities in the Garden Grove-Stanton-Westminster area.

This Friday at the Atlantis Play Center in Garden Grove will be the 14th annual Jack O’Lantern Jamboree, held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Sponsored by the city’s Community Services Department , the event will feature games, crafts, a costume parade, a haunted house, a bounce house and more. Snacks will be a available for purchase.

Admission is $7 per person; children 2 and under are free. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Pre-sale tickets are available through today (Thursday). Atlantis is located at 13630 Atlantis Way, north of Garden Grove Park, which is off Westminster Avenue east of Magnolia Street.

If you’re 50 and older, the Wicked Witches Halloween Party and Dance will be held on Wednesday (Oct. 31) from 10 a.m. to noon at the dining room of the H. Louis Lake Senior Center, 11300 Stanford Ave. in Garden Grove.

Attendees are encouraged to wear holiday costumes.  There is no registration required; appetizers and drinks will be offered at no cost. A donation of $3.50 is requested of those staying for lunch.

In Westminster, ghosts, superheroes, princesses and skeletons are expected to show up at Westminster Mall on Wednesday.

“Halloween at the Mall” will be at the lower level Macy’s court from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. with nickel carnival games, as well as trick or treating throughout the mall.

Westminster Mall is located on Bolsa Avenue just west of Goldenwest Street in Westminster.

Stanton will be hosting Halloween Fun with Family and Friends at Stanton Park at 7800 Katella Ave. on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 12 to 5 p.m. The event is hosted by the city, Boy Scouts, Gang Reduction Intervention Program and the Stanton Lions Club.

There will be games, non-profit food booths, crafts, entertainment and a costume contest. Families are encouraged and the event is for all ages.

There will also be a haunted house, Shadow Walk City, staged in the lower parking garage of the Stanton Civic Center at 11072 Cedar St. on Oct. 26, 27 and 31 from 6 to 10 p.m. The cost is $5 and is intended for guests 13 and over.

For the afternoon of Oct. 27 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., the haunted house will be open for younger guests, minus monsters, and will cost $3 plus two cans of food.
