Politics not expensive in Stanton

Garden Grove Journal

It’s not going to be an expensive election this fall in Stanton.

According to statements filed with the city clerk’s office, only one candidate out of five bidding for two seats on the city council has raised any money at all.

Veteran incumbent Al Ethans has received contributions of $7,099, spent $679 and had $6,451 on hand as of Sept. 30. His biggest contributors were himself ($3000), Mavis Ethans ($2000) and Ethans Pools ($1000). Care Ambulance Service, based in Orange, also kicked in $750.

Councilwoman Carol Warren and candidates Sou Moa and Andrew Marquez reported they had raised and spent nothing on their campaigns. Another candidate, Bryan Palomares, did not file the campaign contribution statements (known as Form 460 and 470) with the clerk’s office.

The election is set for Nov. 6.
