GARDEN GROVE, (AP) – Authorities say a man wanted in Arizona on suspicion of fraud and weapons charges barricaded himself in a Garden Grove home, forcing the lockdown of a nearby school.
U.S. Marshals Service Chief Inspector Tom Hession told City News Service that 35-year-old Cordell Dunsmore was tracked to the home at about 1 p.m. Thursday.
After he barricaded himself in the home, officials at Meairs Elementary were alerted to lock down the school.
Dunsmore surrendered after about four hours.
Only 40 to 50 students in the afterschool program were affected because it was a parent-teacher conference day and most students had gone home early.
They were sheltered in a classroom until parents could pick them up.
