Bicyclist killed in GG accident

A man died after being struck by a car while riding his bicycle in Garden Grove Monday evening.

According to Investigator Jason Perkins, the incident took place just before 7 p.m. on Euclid Street near Wakefield Avenue. The cyclist, who carried no identification, has been described only as a white male, about 40 years old.

Garden Grove police and Anaheim fire units responded to the accident. The cyclist was taken by ambulance to UCI Medical Center in Orange where he later died.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Bach Troung, 48, of Huntington Beach, remained at the scene and spoke to investigators.Police believe that Truong, driving a white Honda CRV, was traveling south on Euclid Street in the far right lane.  Near Wakefield, police say, her car hit the bicyclist, who was wearing a yellow reflective vest.

Garden Grove police and the Orange County Coroner’s Office are each conducting investigations into the death. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact Investigator Perkins at (714) 741-5823.
