According to the Westminster Police Department, the incident was reported at 5:54 p.m. last Wednesday (Dec. 5) at the Kum Lee store, 9191 Bolsa Ave.
Police that that three suspects wearing black hooded sweatshirts and masks entered the store, which sells beef jerky and Chinese herbs. One of the three was armed with a chrome semi-automatic handgun, and he ordered the three store employees into a back room.
There, the employees were robbed of their wallets and cell phones, then tied up. One of the victims also had jewelry taken. Police say an attempt to open the store’s cash register failed.
The suspects are described as:
• a male Asian in his 30s;
• a male Asian in his 30s; and
• a male Asian in his 30s with a “five dots” tattoo on his right hand.
“This type of crime is rarer in this particular area,” said Corp. Eddie Esqueda of the WPD. “However, people should always be aware of their surroundings, wherever they go. The Westminster Little Saigon area continues to be a safe place for all to visit,” he added.
