A special event permit for the annual Tet Parade was approved by the Westminster City Council at its meeting Wednesday night.
The parade, planned for Feb. 10 in the Little Saigon area of the city along Bolsa Avenue, is expected to attract 10,000 people to the area.
But approval for the event came with a price tag: organizers must raise $60,000 to pay for security and traffic control for the parade. The deadline given to the Vietnamese American Federation of Southern California is Jan. 24.
Garden Grove’s big Tet event, the annual Tet Festival, will be held Feb. 8-10 at Garden Grove Park. Attendance of over 100,000 is expected. This is the “Year of the Snake.”

Hi Im Michael Tran. I have a Question. According to the date it is on a Sunday. A Sunday is a religious day. Some of the people like me are not gonna be able to make it since its on a Sunday and we have Church. Also the Garden Grove District said that it can’t be on a Sunday if it is High Schools / Middle School bands are not able to participate. You will have no Marching bands in the parade according to the date. Some other people might not make it the the parade due to Church. I would be Happy if you guys can change the date so everyone can come out!
