Jobless rates in the Garden Grove-Stanton-Westminster area are continuing to fall, according to the latest report from the state Employment Development Department.
Figures released Friday showed that overall, unemployment in Orange County dropped from 7 percent to 6.8 percent in December.
For Garden Grove, the number declined from 8.8 percent to 8.5 percent. In Westminster, the rate dropped from 7.8 to 7.5, while Stanton’s number fell from 11.4 to 11.
According to the report, increases in employment rose in financial activities (including real estate), along with leisure and hospitality. Increases were also seen in educational and health services and construction. Decreases were seen in professional and business services as well as government.
Overall, the 7 percent rate for December 2012 compared to a rate of 7.8 percent for December 2011.
