Pedestrian killed crossing Chapman

policeGarden_Grove_PatchA pedestrian running across Chapman Avenue west of Euclid Street in Garden Grove was fatally struck by a car Tuesday evening, according to police.

The deceased man, described only as a male white, approximately 50 years old, was said to have been moving outside the crosswalk when he fell and was hit by a passing vehicle around 6:40 p.m.

The pedestrian was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he died.

According to Investigator Jason Perkins, the car – a black Saab 900S – was traveling west on Chapman Avenue when the pedestrian fell in his path in the number two westbound lane.

The driver remained at the scene, and was not cited. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call Perkins at (714) 741-5823.
