An amendment to an agreement for the expansion of the Embassy Suites Hotel on Harbor Boulevard goes before the Garden Grove City Council Tuesday night.
The amendment has been approved by the city planning commission, It calls for a three-year extension on Landmark Hotels II, LCC to build a second tower for the hotel at 11767 Harbor Blvd. (north of Chapman Avenue),
It would be a 17-story building with 238 hotel rooms along with 56,000 square feet of new banquet and meeting rooms. This time extension would be in addition to the original four years allowed to build the project.
Also on the agenda is the award of a contract to J.C. Entertainment Lighting Services for the purchase of lighting equipment for the Gem Theatre at a cost of $49,867.69. The 155-seat theater, owned by the city, has been closed since a fire in May 2011.
The council meets at 6:30 p.m. at the council chambers in the Community Meeting Center, 11300 Stanford Ave., Garden Grove.
