Pacifica lost 5-2 to Yorba Linda Saturday in the CIF Southern Section Division 6 girls’ water polo championship game in Irvine. The Mariners were a Cinderella team, coming into the title contest with 10 losses. Melissa Thorn had 14 saves for Pacifica. The team is Melissa Thorn, Heather Shaw, Ellis Brodowski, Gabrielle Vanderhill, Sarah Camburn, Caroline Thorn, Sophia Kubes, Laura Lavigne, Kassandra Winn, Sadie Bryan, Victoria Hynam. Eric Anderson is the head coach with Rick Avila and Amber Bryan assisting. The M’s should be strong again next year, with six returning players.
