Virginia Zlaket can’t believe how many people have packed her family’s Main Street market and deli on Feb. 20 when a “cash mob” promoted by KFI-AM, a Los Angeles radio station, came to Garden Grove’s downtown. Zlaket’s Market, said to be the oldest family-owned business around, was inundated by customers during a three-hour period, all of them asked by the radio station to spend $20 or more. The ringing of the cash register will help not only Zlaket’s. A portion of the profits will go to benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Garden Grove.
