Friday’s report from the state Employment Development Department showed a second-straight month of declining joblessness in Orange County overall. The figure for March is 6.3 percent, down from 6.6 percent in February. In January, it stood at 7.1 percent.
In Garden Grove, the unemployment rate fell from 8.5 percent to 7.9 percent. The figure for Stanton showed a decrease from 10.6 percent to 10.3 percent and forWestminster from 7.3 to 7.1 percent.
Countywide, increases were seen in construction, leisure and hospitality and trade/transportation.
The estimates of unemployment by city are not actual counts, such as in a census, but statistical projections based on past economic patterns.
Rates for other nearby cities included:
• Anaheim: 8.2 percent.
• Cypress: 6.7 percent.
• Fountain Valley: 5.3 percent.
• Huntington Beach: 5.1 percent.
• Orange: 5.8 percent.
• Santa Ana: 10.1 percent.
• Seal Beach: 4.6 percent.
