According to police, the commercial vehicle was traveling north on Brookhurst Street approaching Brookside Avenue shortly after 2 p.m. when it rear-ended a compact car, which veered to the right and came to a stop.
The cement truck also moved right, but went over a curb, sheared off a fire hydrant and crashed through a 10-foot tall cement wall and into a parked truck in the driveway of a home.
It then traveled six more feet into the garage of that house.
The driver of the compact was not injured, and the driver of the truck was taken to UCI Medical Center complaining of pain. He was listed in good condition and expected to be released Wednesday night.
Police say that speeding, not alcohol, was a factor in the accident.
