With another barrage of hits, Pacifica High School’s softball team advanced to the CIF-SS Division 1 semifinals with a 13-1 win over Orange Lutheran Thursday.
The Mariners will face Norco next Tuesday.
Nicole Witt went 3-for-3 for the day, slamming two home runs, drawing two walks and driving in four runs. Ruby Rivera went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk and two runs scored. Faith Canfield was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.
While the offense was piling up runs, pitcher Kaylee Carlson was smothering the home team, allowing just one run on four hits and one walk. She struck out seven batters and improved her season record to 19-0.
It was also the Mariners’ 19th straight win. They are 27-5 overall.
The quarterfinals were less kind to Garden Grove’s baseball team. The Argonauts fell 6-2 to Serra in Division 3 play on Friday, snapping their 11-game winning streak.
Grove, which won the Garden Grove League title, finished the season at 23-4.
